say that NASCAR Racing, especially in the Modified Stock Division, is
not for everyone and certainly not the weak of heart. They say it’s a
field of endevour that takes years of commitment and dedication to
achieve, often, meager gains. When we're not traumatizing O.E.Ms and
goveling for position with engineering and purchasing staffs we try to
have a little fun. Phoenix Resources sponsors local softball and a
racing team. The photos here are the '51 Modified' we enjoyed helping.

The 2001 racing season was the first season for the 51 Modified Racing Team and the first year driving for the Team’s owner, Warren Mordenti. With a starting budget of, essentially, zero the 51 Modified Team was able to stay in the competition throughout the year often surpassing the performance of many ‘well funded’ racing teams with decades of driving experience! Of the thirty seven, ‘seasoned’, Modified Divisional drivers competing at Claremont Speedway in 2001 Warren Mordenti and 51 Modified Racing Team finished ninth for the year having 398 points finishing in the Top Ten five times. Warren walked away with achieving Rookie of the Year. It was a fun year! |
